Community Outreach
TLC-TnT has always believed in giving back to the community and last year the 35 peer mentors participated in over 200 hours each of community service. The following is a list of some of the community service activities.
Meals on wheels: The peer mentors plan & attend parties for the seniors that eat in as well as participate in their fund raising activities.
Connected: This group started by John Canda & the Albina Ministerial Association walks every Friday evening in Holliday Park to show support for non gang violence. The peer mentors have been part of the walks as well as support their mission.
Portlands homeless: The teens put together care packages for the folks living on the streets downtown & participate in delivering them.
Tutoring & Mentoring: The peer mentors become like a family to each other & support one another both academically and as friends.
Parent Support: All of the peer mentors are bi lingual & speak 7 languages among themselves they are able to translate for parents of program participants and help with the 24 hour TLC Hot line available to parents.
Food banks: The peer mentors help stock, sort & translate at local food banks.
Shelters: The peer mentors help assemble :Family Activity kits for women & children living in shelters.
