Location: Penninsula Park Time: 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Attire: TLC Shirts (required) TLC employs local high-school & college students that live in Portland’s inner city by allowing them to become peer mentor counselors. In addition to receiving wages, the counselors have an opportunity grow and help the community immensely. The young adult peer mentors are extensively trained in job readiness, and leadership.
TLC-TNT peer mentors are students from a diverse background of race, language, and culture. The support and participation of these peer mentors is an integral part of TLC-TNT, sustaining the 28 year legacy of TLC-TNT in gang prevention. In addition to changing the lives of Portland youth through mentoring, these peer mentors learn life skills and exposure to communities outside their own. We promote self-esteem and focus on the prevention of gang violence by engaging in active recreation, physical activity, educational activity, and social interaction to proactively promote leadership.
